Incremental archive operations mark data files that are copied to stub locations using Windows Explorer as deleted.

Symptoms

Data files that are copied to stub locations using Windows Explorer are marked as deleted.

Causes

The stub files have the sparse attribute (P) and the offline attribute (O). The Explorer.exe program caches the stub file attributes before performing the write operation on the file. After the stub recall operation completes, the sparse and offline attributes are set on the copied file.

Resolution

Before you copy the data file using the Windows Explorer, delete the stubs.
