INVALID_OR_NULL_FOR_RESTRICTED_PICKLIST

Performing a Salesforce restore operation on data that has an invalid or null value for a restricted picklist field produces an error.

Symptoms

A restore operation on data with invalid or null values for a restricted picklist field does not run and the following error appears:

:bad value for restricted picklist field: Custom_restricted_picklist__c --INVALID_OR_NULL_FOR_RESTRICTED_PICKLIST:bad value for restricted picklist

Causes

The restore operation produces an error because an invalid or null value is specified for a restricted picklist field.

Resolution

Try one of the following resolutions:

• From Salesforce Setup, if the rejected field value is null, add a null value to the restricted picklist field, and then run a new restore operation.
• From Salesforce Setup, clear the Restrict picklist to the values defined in the value set check box for the restricted picklist field, and then run a new restore operation.
• From Salesforce, change the rejected field value to a supported value for the restricted picklist field. After making this change, perform a backup operation, and then run a new restore operation.
• Ignore the error.
