Last Modified:

If you perform the hardware revert operation from the IntelliSnap backup on AIX clients with incorrect SAPDATA volume configuration, the revert fails.

Symptoms

The revert operations fails, and the following error message appears:

31653992 c1e  08/12 15:02:13 ###### virtual bool CVSnapOSUtilUNIX::prepareRevert(SMVolSnapInfo&) [CVSnapOSUtilUNIX.cpp:6401] Mounted file system(s) uses log device located on reverting disk. The revert will fail while this file system is mounted.

Causes

The volume level revert operation fails because SAPDATA volumes are located on the same volume group that has also other files and folders. In addition, revert operation can fail if log volume is shared across multiple volume groups.

Resolution

Do the following:

  1. Keep SAPDATA volumes in a separate volume group and verify that no files and folders exist in those volumes.
  2. Verify that the volume group with SAPDATA volumes has a separate log volume which is not shared with other volume groups.
