Scalable Resource Allocation is Not Supported for NAS Attached Libraries or Snap Copies

Article ID: AUXCP0012 Error Message: Storage Policy (SP Name) has snap copies or copies with NAS Attached Libraries. Use Scalable Resource Allocation is not supported for NAS Attached Libraries or snap copies. To use Scalable Resource Allocation for other copies please create schedule for individual copies.

Symptom

The following error message is generated when running an auxiliary copy operation:

Storage Policy (SP Name) has snap copies or copies with NAS Attached Libraries. Use Scalable Resource Allocation is not supported for NAS Attached Libraries or snap copies. To use Scalable Resource Allocation for other copies please create schedule for individual copies.

Cause

The Use Scalable Resource Allocation option to enhance the scalability of the auxiliary copy operation and for load-balancing between the CommServe and the MediaAgent resources is not supported for NAS attached libraries or snap copies.

Resolution

You can choose from the following options:

  • If you have auxiliary copy operations scheduled, then you can edit the existing schedule and ensure that the Use Scalable Resource Allocation option is cleared.
  • If there are multiple copies with a few configured to use NAS attached libraries or snap copies then, you can do the following:
    1. Disable or delete the existing schedule.
    2. Create separate schedules to run the operation to the NAS libraries or a snap copy and ensure that the Use Scalable Resource Allocation option is cleared.
  • If you are running the auxiliary copy operation manually and there are no schedules present, then start a new auxiliary copy operation and ensure that the Use Scalable Resource Allocation option is cleared.

?Note: In the same storage policy, if you have other storage policy copies, wherein neither the source nor the destination copy is associated to a NAS attached library or is a snap copy, then you can manually run or create schedules with Use Scalable Resource Allocation option enabled.
