Failed to create copy for storage policy, please see Evmgrs.log details

Storage policy copy creation fails on a storage policy that has Object Level deduplication enabled.

Symptoms

The storage policy copy creation fails with the following error message:

Failed to create copy [ ] for storage policy [ ], please see Evmgrs.log details.

Causes

The error message appears and the copy creation operation would fail if you try to create a secondary copy on a Storage Policy that has object level deduplication enabled on an upgraded CommServe (from version 8 to 10).

Creation of a copy is not allowed on storage policy that has object level deduplication enabled because Object Level Deduplication is not supported in version 10.

Resolution

Create a new storage policy and assign clients to the new storage policy. See Associating Subclients to a Different Storage Policy for more information.
