If multiple index server MediaAgents are associated with a storage policy, and one index server's index cache becomes filled with index data, then that index server might be taken offline.

Symptoms

An index cache on an index server MediaAgent becomes filled with index data, and that index server is taken offline.

Causes

The index cache space of MediaAgents that are Indexing Version 2 index servers within the same storage policy might not be evenly used. The index cache space on one MediaAgent might be filled with index data faster than the other MediaAgents.

Resolution

Perform index server load balancing, which redistributes loads across all Indexing Version 2 index servers in a CommCell environment. Index server load balancing provides optimal distribution of indexes across available disk space.
