Service Pack Updates may Fail if Applications are Locking Explorer Plugin files.
Article ID: INS0005 Installation of updates may fail when trying to replace Explorer Plugins files that are locked by other applications.
When checking status of installing Service Pack updates, user may see status message:
“Failed - Applications are locking files to be replaced [Refer UpdateInfo.log on client for more details]
This error is caused by running applications using the Explorer Plugin, preventing Service Pack update from replacing files.
This job failure is on purpose to preclude install of Service Pack causing unexpected restart of laptop computer.
To resolve, restart the computer, then run Install Updates again.
