"Failed to start the server": A block-level restore job or a clone restore job fails

Article ID: 54273

Article Type: Troubleshooting

Last Modified:

A MySQL restore job or a PostgreSQL restore job of a block-level backup fails with errors.

Symptoms

A block-level restore job or a clone restore job fails with the following error message:

Unable to start auxiliary server

Causes

During a cross-machine restore job, the user ID and the group ID of the source computer and the destination computer do not match.

Resolution

Fix access permissions and owner permissions, and then start the server manually. To prevent this problem, before running a restore operation, verify that user ID and the group ID of the source computer and the destination computer are the same.
