Network connection between two host computers is lost.

Symptoms

Network connection between two host computers is lost, and this error message is returned:

Error Code: [10:2] Description: Unable to communicate with the remote machine [ ] to start the Data Pipe. Please check the network connectivity between the local machine and the remote machine and verify this product's Communications Service is running on the remote machine.

Causes

The Commvault software did not use the appropriate network interface for data transfer because multiple network interfaces are configured on the host computers.

Resolution

Set up a Data Interface Pair (DIP) to create an exclusive network route for data transfer between the two host computers. For more information on DIPs, see Data Interface Pairs – Getting Started.
