If permissions for a SharePoint server are incorrect at the service account level, then a backup operation might stop responding in a pending state.
From the SharePoint Server Properties dialog box, validate the SharePoint user account that you use to run backup operations and restore operations. Verify that the user account has full administrator privileges. For more information, see SharePoint Server Properties (General), Validate Account.
