A SharePoint backup operation fails with errors.

Symptoms

A SharePoint backup operation fails with the following error message:

The file you are attempting to save or retrieve has been blocked from this Web site by the service administrators.

Causes

If you uploaded a file of a file type (such as EXE), and then you blocked that file type in SharePoint, then a backup operation for a file of that type might fail.

Resolution

You can resolve this problem in the following ways:

• Set error rules to ignore these errors during backup operations. For more information on creating error decision rules, see Customizing Completed with Errors Condition.
• On the SharePoint Central Administration page, remove the file type from the list of blocked file types.
