A SharePoint document in-place restore operation fails.

Symptoms

A SharePoint document in-place restore operation fails when the operation attempts to restore sub-sites. The following error message appears in the import.log file:

FatalError: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Causes

When the operation attempts to restore sub-sites, it cannot restore ghost pages, and so the operation fails. (Ghost pages are the files and views that reside on the front-end web server.)

Resolution

  1. To resolve this error, add the additional setting bImportSkipGhostPages, and set its value to 1, so that the operation does not attempt to restore ghost pages.
  2. Run the operation again. For instructions about adding additional settings from the CommCell Console, see Adding or Modifying an Additional Setting from the CommCell Console.
