Cause

SQL backup operation fails because the SQL Server restricts the following concurrent operations during a backup operation:

  • Creating or deleting database files
  • Creating an index
  • Performing a non-logged job
  • Shrinking a database

Resolution

Avoid running concurrent SQL Server restricted operations. Wait for the first conflicting operation to finish before starting the backup operation.
