Browsing from the subclient level with a copy precedence set to 1 shows no items

Last Modified:

For block-level backups that use native snap engines, browsing from the subclient level with a copy precedence set to 1 shows no items.

Symptoms

Browsing from the subclient level with a copy precedence set to 1 displays the following error in the result window:

"There are no items to show in this view."

Causes

When you browse from the subclient level with a copy precedence set to 1, the software tries to browse from the snapshot copy that does not exist.

The snapshots are automatically deleted after the backup copy operation completes because the primary snapshot copy is configured as a spool copy (a copy with no retention rules).

Resolution

To browse from the tape copy, use the following steps:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > Client > File System > defaultBackupSet.
  2. Right-click the appropriate subclient and then click Browse and Restore.
  3. In the Browse and Restore Options dialog box, on the Advanced Options tab, select the Browse from copy precedence check box and enter 2.
  4. Click View Content.
