Incremental block-level backup fails with error: Block Level Backup cannot be run because there is an earlier dependent job [47449] that must be backed up to tape first.

Article ID: UFS0014 Incremental block-level backup fails because a dependent job did not complete.

Symptom

For native snapshot engines, an incremental block-level backup job fails with the following error message in the CommCell Console:

"Block Level Backup cannot be run because there is an earlier dependent job [47449] that must be backed up to tape first."

Cause

A dependent backup copy job is pending, and is preventing the block-level incremental backup copy job from running.

Resolution

Before running the next incremental block-level backup job, manually unpick or run the backup copy job from the storage policy.

To unpick a backup copy job

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies > Storage Policies > storage_policy.
  2. Right-click the storage policy that contains IntelliSnap backup jobs, and then click View Jobs.
  3. Right-click the appropriate job and click Do not Backup Copy.

To run a backup copy job

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies > Storage Policies > storage_policy.
  2. Right-click the storage policy that contains IntelliSnap backup jobs, and then click All Tasks > Run Backup Copy.
  3. Click OK.
