A OnePass Stub Recall Operation of GPFS Data Stops Responding on Windows Clients

Article ID: UFSOP0004 A OnePass stub recall operation of GPFS data stops responding on Windows clients.

Symptom

A OnePass stub recall operation of GPFS data stops responding on Windows clients.

Cause

For GPFS volumes, by default, the leases option and the sharemodes option are set to "yes", which causes the recall operations to fail. The leases option controls the file locks. The sharemodes option determines how the application share modes are honored by the file sharing protocols.

The opportunistic locks (also called oplocks) are also enabled by default, and the oplocks intercept the recall operations.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, complete the following steps:

  1. To set the leases option to "no", run the following command:

mmsmb export change smbexport_sharename --option gpfs:leases=no

  2. To set the sharemodes option to "no", run the following command:

mmsmb export change smbexport_sharename --option gpfs:sharemodes=no

  3. Verify that the leases option and the sharemodes option are set to "no".

mmsmb export list smbexport_sharename --option all

  4. Verify that the oplocks option is set to "no".

mmsmb export change smbexport_sharename --option 'oplocks = no'
