A backup job for a Virtual Server Agent fails because the agent timed out.
A backup job for a Virtual Server Agent fails. In the Job Controller window, the status indicates that the job is pending because the backup phase failed.
Note: This error can occur with any VSA hypervisor.
This error can occur because the virtual machine’s Virtual Server Agent initialization takes longer than expected, which consequently delays the virtual machine's reporting back its ready status to the controller node. By default, the controller node waits only 120 seconds for the remote nodes (virtual machines) to start.
To increase the amount of time (up to 12000 seconds) that the controller node waits for the remote nodes to start, configure the nAgentInitTimeout additional setting. This additional setting is especially useful if problems occur during the agent's initialization, which might cause it to take longer than expected to report back to the controller node.
To the virtual server, add the nAgentInitTimeout additional setting as shown in the following table.
For instructions about adding additional settings from the CommCell Console, see Adding or Modifying an Additional Setting.
