Unable to Configure the Scale-Out File Server

Configuration of a scale-out file server fails if a new Internet Provider (IP) address is not added to the scale-out role, or if the Cluster Shared Volume File System (CSVFS) is not configured as a separate subclient.

Symptoms

The following error is returned when the configuration of scale-out file server fails:

Cluster Group [scale-out] configuration was saved on CommServe successfully.

Remote nodes update failed: (Use force sync option to update the nodes later.)

Causes

The configuration of a scale-out file server might fail if one of the following conditions is true:

• A new Internet Provider (IP) address is not added to the scale-out role in the failover cluster manager.
• The CSVFS was not configured on a separate subclient.

Resolution

• Add a new Internet Provider (IP) address resource to the configured scale-out role using the failover cluster manager. For instructions, see Configuration for a Scale-Out File Server.
• Create a separate subclient to back up the CSVFS. For instructions, see Configuring Backups of Cluster Shared Volume.
