Managing OnePass Backup and Archiving data separately

Best Practices

There may be circumstances where you want to manage backup and archiving operations/data separately from each other. For example, you may want to send archived data to a separate storage policy or run archiving operations on a different schedule. The way to handle this is to create a new backup set. One backup set will be used for backup and the other for archiving.

For File System subclients that are in the backup set used for OnePass archiving, select the subclient content option to Only backup files that qualify for archiving

For Exchange Mailbox subclients that are in the backup set used for OnePass archiving, select the subclient content option Include only the messages that meet the message rules.

Of course the benefits of OnePass archiving in combining redundant/similar backup and archive process steps are lost when a subclient is configured for archiving only.
