A granular restore from Snap backup cannot be completed when the proxy used for the restore is different from the proxy that was used for the backup.
During a restore of guest files and folders from a Snap backup, the restore goes pending with the following message:
Snapshot is currently mounting on a different host
For Snap backups, the best practice is to have the Virtual Server Agent and MediaAgent on the same setup.
When performing a Live Browse of file and folder information from a Snap backup, the snapshot is mounted on the ESX server and the MediaAgent where the backup job was run. The restore operation also attempts to mount the snapshot on the proxy that is used for the restore. If the proxy used for the restore is different from the proxy used for the backup, you receive an error message indicating that the snapshot is already mounted on the proxy where the backup was run.
When performing a browse and restore operation, you can ensure that the snapshot is mounted on only one proxy using either of the following methods:
