Backups fail during scan phase because they cannot write to the required folder.
ifind log contains:
File scan failed to write to dirchange file [^1%s]. Possible reasons include nonexistent path/file, hardware problems or insufficient disk space.
The dirchange file contains the results of the file scan as the scan progresses. If the file can't be written, the scan phase fails. The most common cause is a full disk. Other causes could be the specified folder path is a mounted drive in an unmounted condition or an access denied issue caused by security or anti-virus software.
Free up sufficient/required disk space on the specified drive. If the folder is on a mounted/shared drive, make sure the mount path is accessible.
By default, the ifind process runs on Windows as the Local System Account. On Linux/Unix-like systems the ifind process runs as root. The service account can be changed. Verify the service account has read/write access to the target folder.
Check if any third-party disk management, security, or anti-virus software is denying access to the target folder.
