Backup of Dedupe database (DDB) fails when unable to create snapshot.
You may see one or more Windows System log error at the time as well. It looks similar to this:
[TYPE] Error [TIME] 2015/07/13 01:55:32 [SOURCE] volsnap [COMPUTER] YOURCOMPUTERNAME [DESCRIPTION] The shadow copies of volume [x]: were deleted because the shadow copy storage could not grow in time. Consider reducing the IO load on the system or choose a shadow copy storage volume that is not being shadow copied.
The message you see Is most likely related to size on the VSS volume. There may be insufficient space to create a snapshot.
Consult Windows documentation on VSS snaphot volumes. Clean up any previous snapshots - if there are any - on the volume. Retry backup. If same error occurs, consult Windows documentation on increasing volume space or moving snapshots to a new volume.
