If a VMware VM has a GPT disk without an MSR partition, backups might complete with quiesce errors.

Symptoms

Backups for a VMware VM might complete with quiesce errors. On the vCenter, you see the following error:     An error occurred while quiescing the virtual machine.  See the virtual machine's event log for details.

Causes

This issue can occur when a VMware VM has a GPT disk without an MSR partition.  As a result, VMware cannot create a quieseced snapshot for the disk.
