Jobs fail to start due to a variation of the error message Error Code 19:757 [] activity for [] is disabled. The job will not run.

Symptoms

This issue shows up when a Backup or Restore job fails to start showing Error Code 19:757.

The error description will provide greater context with the details in the two sets of brackets.

Bracket one: This will show which type of activity is disabled on the subclient (for example, Backup or Restore)

Bracket two: This will show the name of the entity that is disabled (e.g. Agent, Client, Client Computer Group, or CommCell).

Causes

The error is displayed because some form of activity is disabled for the subclient in the Job.

As an example, ,you will receive this error if you are running a Backup Job against a subclient, but that subclient is a member of a  Client Group that has Backup Activity disabled.

Resolution

Based on the details in the two brackets, there are a few ways to proceed:

  1. Enable the disabled activity at the indicated level.  The error message should indicate at what level the requested activity has been disabled.  Enable the activity requested at the level indicated for all participating subclients.
  2. Check the schedule/Schedule Policies for the affected subclient and edit as needed.  It's possible that the schedule is telling a disabled subclient to run a backup, resulting in the error message.
