This article describes how to resolve error code 82:176 The network module failed to send / recv data(SIDB at MediaAgent [...]).
This error will appear when deduplicated backups fail to complete, generally for a single Storage Policy, or Media Agent.
The error indicates there are network communications issues between the clients and a specific Media Agents group. The deduplicated database needs to be accessible by one or more Media Agents to facilitate the backup operation. This error is showing that the Media Agent in the error context has encountered network send/receive errors and cannot complete successfully until those are addressed.
As this error is caused by network connectivity, the first place to start is verifying the network connection between the Client and the Media Agent listed in the error string.
Though this is generally an environmental error, there are some Commvault tools that can help:
Run a Check Readiness on the client in question. this will check all paths necessary for this client's operation and provide valuable feedback. Keep in mind, if the network issue is intermittent, then Check Readiness might succeed. Set up 1-way firewall between the client and the MA. This will create a consistent connection between the client and Media Agent.
