An Oracle operation failed on a Unix Oracle server because during installation the user was not assigned to a UNIX user group that included Oracle RDBMS users and Oracle Grid listener users. Consequently, Oracle processes cannot access the Commvault configuration.
Oracle operations fail and errors similar to the following occur in the ClOraAgent.log file:
Error Code: [18:179] RMAN channel encountered error [This client is not installed with OS group that belongs to Oracle user. Please change install group to [oracle] using [/opt/commvault3/Base/cvpkgchg] command. The user was associated with a missing or incorrect OS user group during Oracle agent installation.
Log in to the Oracle server and run the cvpkgchg tool located under the software_installation_directory/Base directory. This tool assigns the correct group to the Commvault installation path and registry so that Oracle processes can access the Commvault configuration.
