Index cache free space is less than [size] GB

The Index Cache Location report indicates that there are free disk space issues in the index cache of the index server (MediaAgent).

Symptoms

The "Remarks" column in the Index Cache Location report states the following:

Index cache free space is less than [size] GB.

The report dashboard tile also shows a "Critical" status if the disk is predicted to be full in less than 30 days, and a "Warning" status if the disk is predicted to be full in less than 90 days.

Causes

Excessive use of the index server (MediaAgent).

Resolution

Perform index server load balancing, which redistributes loads across all Indexing Version 2 index servers (MediaAgents) in a CommCell environment. Index server load balancing provides optimal distribution of indexes across available disk space.

To run index server load balancing, perform one of the following tasks:

• If the MediaAgent contains indexes that can be moved to another MediaAgent (these MediaAgents must be configured in the same data path) then run the Load Balance Index Servers workflow. For more information, see Running Index Server Load Balancing with the Load Balance Index Servers Workflow.
• View the Index Server Load Report, which displays information about index load statuses, index load trends, and index size distributions across Indexing Version 2 index servers in a CommCell environment. If you have already deployed the Load Balance Index Servers workflow in the past, then you can run the load balancing feature from the Index Server Load Report.
