Running the SQL Server backup job using a user account that has no sysadmin rights produces errors.
The SQL Server backup job does not run and displays the following error:
30:436 Instance validation failed: Insufficient SQL Server role. To configure the instance, the user must be a member of the SYSADMIN SQL server role.
The SQL Server backup job goes into queued state because the user account that is used for the SQL Server instance is not a member of the sysadmin server role.
Change the user account for the SQL Server instance to the user with sysadmin server role. After the user account is updated, the Commvault software automatically resumes the jobs.
For details on how to grant the sysadmin server role to a user, you can view this video.
