"403 Forbidden": Not able to access Azure app that requires protected API in Microsoft Graph

By default, an authorized user account is added as a member of the team. An authorized user is not added as a member of the team if the Azure app can access protected API in Microsoft Graph.

Symptoms

A Teams backup fails with the following error message:

"403 Forbidden"

Causes

An authorized user account is added as a member of the team.

Resolution

Publish the Microsoft app that you used to back up the posts on Teams.
- To request access to the protected API in Microsoft Graph, go to the Request access to protected APIs in Microsoft Graph form, and update the required app information.
- Wait till you receive the email of form approval by Microsoft.
Run an archive job. A user will not get added as a member of the team.
