Symptoms

Job Operations will encounter the following error:

Total number of data transfer operations on current deduplication database exceeds the maximum allowed value. Advice: Please review the Maximum Number of Parallel Data Transfer operations setting for deduplication database in: 1. Deduplication database properties. 2. Media Manager configuration.

Causes

This error indicates that the total number of data transfer operations for the Deduplication Database (DDB) exceeds the allowed value configured.

Resolution

Increase Data Transfer Operations

  1. In the CommCell Ribbon > Storage > Media Management
  2. Select Resource Manager and navigate down to Maximum number of parallel data transfer operations for deduplication engine
  3. Increase the value to allow more job operations to run
  4. More information about the maximum number of parallel data transfer operations for a deduplication engine can be found here.

Be careful when editing this number, as increasing the number of operations might actually make overall throughput worse if the hardware is not capable of handling additional transfers.

Alternatively, as Job operations complete and the number of transfer operations drops below the configured value, jobs that were previously waiting will automatically resume and run in order of Job Priority.
