On Windows File System, the following message appears when most of the files appearing in the Commvault subclient content are locked:
Error Code [7:332] High contribution of backup data from locked files is observed. Consider enabling VSS for all files for this subclient for more efficient backups, while monitoring to ensure that the VSS snapshot does not unduly affect the performance of the computer.
This is not an error or failure but a suggestion to improve performance based on the number of failed files occurring when Commvault protects subclient data.
The Windows File System backup job encountered locked items.
When performing a Windows File System backup job, if certain items are locked and cannot be backed up immediately, the agent will place them in a list to be retried later. To protect the items listed in this file, a VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service) snapshot is taken, and the content is then backed up from the snapshot using a single stream. However, if a considerable number of files within the subclient content are locked, this can impact the backup performance as only a single stream is utilized to back up from the snapshot for this phase of the job. To allow multi-stream backup of locked files, the "Use VSS for all files" option must be selected. Follow these steps to set this option:
