Error Code [82:176] The network module failed to send / recv data(SIDB at MediaAgent <String>).

Deduplication Backup fails to write to DDB MediaAgent host.

Symptoms

Log may contain similar entries:

Error Code[19:1253]:Number of restarts has exceeded the maximum number allowed [^1%d].

Error code[82:176]: The network module failed to send / recv data(SIDB at MediaAgent ^1%s).

Causes

The job is unable to write to DDB MediaAgent. In some cases, more than one DDB MediaAgent may be involved. Services on one or more of the DDB MediaAgents may be down or hung. Network connection to one or more of the MediaAgents may be slow or have a large number of dropped packets.

Resolution

1. Run Readiness check on Client and DDB MediaAgents.  Recycle Commvault services on the MediaAgents. Correct any identified deficiencies. Retry the backup.
2. Use "ping" to test basic connectivity. If the ping is successful, use a performance tester or packet sniffer on the network in question. Retry the backup.
