You can manually upgrade Python for the Commvault software on a Windows server.
Note: This article applies to Commvault Feature Release 11.20 through 11.28.67. For Commvault Feature Release 11.28.68 and later releases, the Commvault installer automatically upgrades old Python versions.
Symptoms
The Python version that was deployed by Commvault is not the most recent version.
You are required to upgrade Python to address vulnerability concerns.
Resolution
The Commvault software is deployed with a long term support release of Python. If a newer version of Python than the one deployed by the Commvault installer is required, you can manually upgrade it on a Windows server using the procedure described below.
Note
On supported Python versions in a Commvault feature release, you can upgrade to any latest patch update (for example, if the current version is Python 3.9.2, then you can upgrade to any Python 3.9.* version), but you should not perform a major Python version upgrade to anything other than the supported version.
Do not uninstall the existing version of Python. You should only upgrade Python on the same installation path for patch updates.
